In a press release yesterday (in response to the Army Corp of Engineers denying the permit to cross the Missouri River), Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (the company building the Dakota Access Pipeline) repeat the popular but completely false claim that Obama “has abandoned the rule of law” and label Native Americans and environmentalists, including the 3000+ veterans traveling there to support them, as “a narrow and extreme political constituency”.
According to the press release, “the White House’s directive today to the Corps for further delay is just the latest in a series of overt and transparent political actions by an administration which has abandoned the rule of law in favor of currying favor with a narrow and extreme political constituency.”
Given this attitude, and in light of the environmental positions of the incoming president, although we’ve won one battle, we must realize the war is far from over.
